About our foodbank
Here is an introduction to our project.
Farnborough Foodbank started in 2009 using a shed in a garden. Then progressed to storing food in the garage and this expanded to using at least four other people’s garages, before we were given a small unit by Rushmoor Borough Council. As our number of clients has grown we have now been provided with a much larger warehouse for storage.
We are supported by churches, organisations, and individuals in Cove, Farnborough and Aldershot through which we open our FoodBank Outlet for “our clients”, a welcoming place to redeem their vouchers in exchange for food provision. Through our robust connections with businesses, organisations and individuals, we receive food and monetary donations. Public donations can be given through our various “drop bins” located in supermarkets and other public places.
Our Foodbank is run entirely by volunteers. Any monetary donations we receive goes towards the upkeep of the Warehouse, Office and our Van.
Previously we have been very fortunate to receive grants from local Companies who chose us as their nominated Charity. ie. S C Johnson at Frimley and Charters, Citroen Aldershot, among many others.
